Compensation, Benefits and Advancement |
Cox Smith lawyers receive competitive salaries and benefits. The Firm’s Management Advisory Committee carefully considers each lawyer's total contribution and recognizes team effort as well as individual achievement in determining compensation. Bonus considerations are based on each lawyer’s performance rather than adherence to outdated standards or lock-step systems.
The Firm formally reviews each associate's progress twice a year and adjusts salaries annually. Associates are given the opportunity to evaluate themselves and to also receive input regarding their performance from every senior lawyer for whom they have worked in the past year. To supplement these reviews, senior lawyers also provide daily guidance to new associates. Associates are eligible for consideration for shareholder status after six years of employment at Cox Smith.
Cox Smith offers a competitive benefits package that includes, among other benefits, a 401(k) contribution of no less than 3%, payment of group life and disability insurance premiums, access to group major medical coverage, Section 125 Cafeteria Plan allowing payment of certain expenses on a pre-tax basis, downtown paid parking and payment of bar association dues, professional meetings and development programs, and expenses related to Continued Legal Education (CLE) courses. |
