With a focus on protecting clients’ intangible assets and seeking creative ways to extract value from them, Court Allen specializes in the protection and enforcement of all types of intellectual property (IP), including patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. As part of this specialization, Court has developed a particular emphasis on patent prosecution, counseling and opinion writing. Court has helped companies in a wide variety of industries analyze and protect areas of technology including VTOL aircraft designs and thrust reversers, beverage products and processes, medical and dental devices, petroleum well drilling and logging equipment, gas turbine engines, automotive engine controls, and computer software. In addition, Court is experienced in drafting and negotiating license agreements and other agreements for the development and implementation of proprietary technologies and conducting due diligence reviews for the transfer of various IP assets.
Prior to his legal career, Court practiced as an aerospace engineer for over five years, principally with the Fort Worth Division of General Dynamics, which became part of Lockheed Martin. With an emphasis on finite element modeling and analysis, Court worked in the structural dynamics group conducting vibration, acoustic, flutter, and aeroservoelastic analyses and tests, primarily for the F-16 and F-22 fighter aircraft. Court regularly draws upon his rich engineering background to serve the current IP needs of our clients. |
