Head of the firm's Creditors' Rights, Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy department, Mark E. Andrews has experience as lenders’ counsel in complex chapter 11 cases, and additionally has broad and deep knowledge representing lenders, business debtors and committees throughout his over twenty-five years of bankruptcy practice. For years he served as regional bankruptcy counsel for Bank One in Dallas prior to its merger with Chase. Mark joined Cox Smith in 2006 after a number of years practicing as a partner in a business bankruptcy boutique firm in Dallas. Among recent significant engagements, Mark has represented both debtors and creditors in connection with the energy industry, most recently representing AGE Refining in its bankruptcy and the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Patman Drilling case. Mark’s retail experience includes representing debtors such as Bag ‘n Baggage, Ltd. (a national retail chain). Mark understands real estate cases, recently representing for example, residential homebuilder Wall Homes, a Texas builder with a significant presence in Dallas, Fort-Worth, Houston and San Antonio. Mark has represented lenders in negotiations and in bankruptcy proceedings involving complex preference and fraudulent transfer litigation. Mark has also represented hospitals in bankruptcy having recently sold Integra Hospital Plano, Integra Hospital Baton Rouge as well as Shreveport Doctor's Hospital.

In addition to negotiating on behalf of banks and borrowers, Mark has represented parties to adversary proceedings and tried numerous matters in the Bankruptcy Courts.
