Tom Forbes is a graduate of Southwestern University and Baylor University School of Law. His practice is focused on strategic advice and advocacy on public affairs and government affairs issues. He represents clients before state and federal regulatory agencies, the Texas Legislature, the U.S. Congress, the Federal Executive Branch, and other state governments.
Mr. Forbes is a Trustee of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, a Director of the Austin Trust Company and a Principal in Aberdeen Equities, LLC. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Center For Public Policy Dispute Resolution at the University of Texas School of Law, served on the University of Texas School of Architecture Advisory Council, the U.T. McDonald Observatory Board of Visitors and is a past Chairman of Leadership Austin. In addition, Mr. Forbes was the founding President of the Travis County Children's Advocacy Center and was presented the first Volunteer of the Year Award from the Children's Advocacy Centers of Texas. He was also awarded a Citation of Merit by the Southwestern University Alumni Association.
Mr. Forbes previously chaired the State Legislation Committee, Sunset Review Committee, and the Administrative Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He has served in the American Bar Association’s House of Delegates and as a member of numerous ABA, State Bar and Austin Bar Association Committees. He recently completed a term on the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Government Affairs and served on the ABA Latin American Law Initiatives Council and the Standing Committee on Election Law. He is a Life Fellow of both the Texas Bar Foundation and the American Bar Foundation. |
